Inland Glass Works was founded in 1922 in Chicago, IL by a group of Chicago elite including its first President, Joseph B. Weaver. Initially making lighting fixtures, by the 1930's they grew their line to include kitchenware. In 1926 the new President, Mr. Nolan passed away and the investors sold the business to George L. Chamberlain, president of U.S.A. Company. In 1951, Chamberlain sold the Inland Glass Works and its Chicago factory to the Club Aluminum Products Company, a housewares manufacturer also located in Chicago. The business grew tremendously due to increased sales of their sleek designed carafes line, which included heat-proof glass coffee servers with matching tripodal heat stands. These designs had been patented by Ernest L. Lilja in 1949, and contributed to Inland Glass’s popular line of carafes in the 1950s. Unfortunately, after about 40 years in business, lots of internal issues and restructuring, the company was liquidated by Club Aluminum in 1963. They have a permanent place in the Chicago Museum for their contributions to the look of mid-century kitchenalia.
